In so doing the course will explore differing theoretical explanations of 'race' and ethnicity, and critically compare actual manifestations in different social settings. The course will also investigate the relationships between 'race', ethnicity, identity and wider social processes such as changing ideas about and experiences of racism, ethnicity, gender, migration, social mobility, immigration, and social justice.
