Course descriptionThis course will continue work carried out in Sport Science 1Bh, particularly in the area of Sports Biomechanics and Information Technology. More advanced biomechanical principles and qualitative analysis methods will be used to examine human movement and sporting movements in field and laboratory settings. In the second part of the course the principles and use in sport science of general and specialised computer hardware and software will be covered.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Sport Science 1A (SPRT08002) AND Sport Science 1B (SPRT08003)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Understand further mathematical principles of Newtonian mechanics;
Carry out qualitative biomechanical analyses of selected sporting actions;
Use a range of general and specific computer software for data collection and analysis in sport science situations; Present a range of data in output formats commonly encountered in sports science.
Assessment Information
1 x 2 hour examination in Sports Biomechanics (60%) 1 x 2000 word equivalent assignment concerned with Information Technology in Sport Science (eg Powerpoint presentation, Web page production). (40%)
