| Course description | Indicative course content
Paleoecology and the botany of the past 450million years. The development of the modern floristic kingdoms $ú climate change, mountain building, the shifting seas and the influence of plate tectonics on the evolution of plants and their habitats. The ecological structure of the major biota and modern floristic kingdoms and the impact that each has had on horticulture: Arctic and Temperate biota Mediterranean (Chile, South Africa and Australia)The Tropics.
Aims of course
1 This module introduces students to some of the complexities and patterns of plant evolution.
