| Course description | This placement covers the following compulsory courses:
Final Design Studio (30 SCQF)
Analysis of Landscapes, Built Work & Design (10 SCQF)
Urbanism and Regional Planning (10 SCQF)
The final design studio includes typical studio activities such as group work, several intermediate group pinups, a series of lectures on themes related to the subject given by the studio professors as well as guest lecturers. It concludes with a two-day review by a jury of internal and external members.
¿Urbanism and Regional Planning¿ consists of theory lessons and practical exercises representing Catalan urban reality. ¿Analysis of Landscapes, Built Work & Design¿ is divided into theoretical classes whereby examples and approaches, attempts and projects will be presented. Practical work will consist of considering a case study or real life examples based on a dispersed approach that allows for establishing comparative arguments and the ability to provide criteria on the necessary adjustment of public space to the existing conditions and current demands.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Students will gain a synthesizing
vision of the exercise of design, and will be well-prepared for practising as Landscape Architects. They will have gained expertise of the urban design discipline that is an essential foundation for any cultural or profound intervention.
2. Students will develop competencies in:
Research, consideration, reflection and discussion of realized designs with practitioners
Taking responsibility for own work and/or significant responsibility for the work of others.
Identifying, conceptualising and defining new and abstract problems and issues.
A critical awareness of current issues in a subject/discipline and one or more specialisms.

Assessment Information
Students will be assessed on the three core courses of their placement: Master design studio (60%); Analysis of Landscapes, Built Work & Design (20%); and Urbanism and Regional Planning (20%).

Special Arrangements
| This is an umbrella course to cover the 50 credits undertaken by European Masters in Landscape Architecture (EMiLA), who choose ESTAB for their first placement. Please note that students will be taught in Spanish. |

| Academic description |
ETSAB focuses on the integration of the local urban design tradition with the contemporary trends of landscape architecture and sustainability, plus their application to Mediterranean-specific climate and ecological specificity. It emphasizes project detailing and implementation. It is design-oriented, which meets today¿s global landscape trends through the specificities of southern European Mediterranean environments. We encourage small group studio work and interdisciplinary approaches through assignments of the local administration, which provides students with a sense of the complexity of real problems as well as a sense of their responsibility to innovate as future experts. |
