Course descriptionIndicative course content
Students may select from a range of media, including drawing, printmaking, photography, digital image making and collage to investigate the creative possibilities of the two dimensional image. Students will compile a research sketchbook, moving on to complete a number of works showing competence in developing a personal expressive language.

Aims of course
1 To encourage students to undertake research practice in order to develop an individual and personal approach.
2 To introduce students to the exploratory, expressive and creative possibilities of the two dimensional image.
3 To help students develop familiarity with appropriate means of presentation and display of work made using media covered in this module.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Display evidence of originality and the beginnings of a personal language through finished work and the research which supports it.
2. Demonstrate basic skills in the handling of a range of materials to make two dimensional images
3. Show an understanding of the requirements of professional practice and appropriate presentation and selection skills at this level
