Course descriptionIndicative course content
This module enables students to acquire the necessary skills required for reflective practice and for text-based study to complement studio-based and lecture-based work. Emphasis is placed equally on analysis of the student's own work and intentions as well as visual analysis of works on exhibition in Edinburgh. Students will be encouraged to develop an appropriate critical vocabulary and to use comparison as a key tool to demonstrate understanding.

Aims of course
1 To encourage students to describe and analyse works of art and designed objects in which they have a personal interest
2 To introduce students to reflective practice in relation to their own work and to enable them to express these ideas fluently and confidently
3 To encourage students to take ownership of their own learning pathway
