Course descriptionStudents will explore the creative potential of three dimensional form, considering issues such as installation and site, the use of appropriate materials and scale. Students may make maquettes as part of the process of visualisation and research.

This course is only available to students on BA Combined Studies (School of Art).

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Display a considered approach to research as it underpins individual practice
2. Demonstrate a competent level of material handling in response to three dimensional form and space
3. Show competence and a considered approach to the selection and presentation of work for assessment at this level

Additional Information
Academic description This Course builds on skills in three dimensional thinking and making learned at SCQF level 7. Students will be encouraged initially to utilise 'low end' materials and small scale maquette making, along with drawing and other forms of visualisation, to develop a project from initial idea to final artwork. Students may use digital technology to create virtual sculpture and installation proposals.
Syllabus Students may choose to work with any sculptural process appropriate to their project and may attend practical workshops and classes as well as crits and tutorials to support their research.
Transferable skills Skills in research and development of ideas; skills in self generating projects;
the ability to respond to a brief; practical skills related to making;
numeracy, measuring and planning
Reading list A reading list relating to the individual student's practice will be developed
Study Abroad Not entered
Study Pattern Students will undertake 200 hours of study, of which 50 will be Contact hours and 50 will be Directed Study. The remaining 100 hours will allow students to undertake Self-Directed study.
