Course descriptionThis course provides an introduction to the fields of Science Communication and Public Engagement and their role in contemporary society. It examines the many purposes for science communication and the drivers which influence practices throughout the world.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To provide students with an understanding of the practices of science communication and public engagement.
To equip students with an understanding of the role of science communication and public engagement in contemporary society.
To explore the drivers which influence the practice of science communication and public enagement worldwide.
To introduce students to concepts, tools and methodologies used in science communication and public engagement.
Assessment Information
1. On-going contribution to discussion boards (40% of the total mark).
2. Essay on a choice of topics related to science ommunication practice (60% of total mark).
