Course descriptionThe course balances an introduction to entrepreneurship theory with a forward-looking approach to opportunity exploitation. It will focus primarily on developing a foundational understanding of entrepreneurship concepts, frameworks and theories, with a strong reliance on case examples to help students transfer ideas from theory to applications.

Students will develop knowledge and understanding associated with entrepreneurship theories, concepts and frameworks. These will primarily be linked to opportunity recognition and exploitation, but will also address entrepreneurship as a phenomenon that occurs in a variety of organisational contexts and extends beyond profit-maximization as primary motivating factor. Students will develop skills associated with opportunity recognition and assessment, basic evaluation of entrepreneurial innovations and organizations, and professional writing and communication skills associated with resource acquisition and implementation. The course presents these in the context of a positive philosophy for change agency, intrinsically-driven motivation, personal responsibility and accountability.
