Course descriptionThis course will draw on theories of entrepreneurship and the growing academic literature on sustainable business, where enterprises seek to have little or no negative impact on the environment, community, society, or economy, to explore how effective individuals and organisations identify and pursue new opportunities with a focus on those related to green/clean and environmental aspects of the market.

The context of new venture creation will be explored as will the way in which existing business which previously lacked an explicitly green or environmentally-focussed agenda are increasingly looking to the potential that ¿greening¿ their business may offer.

The aim of the course is to enhance participants¿ capabilities to recognise, assess and articulate opportunities related to the green economy; to understand the resources required to underpin venture development and growth; and know from where and how to access these resources.

The course builds on knowledge and skills developed through the more generically-focused 3rd year Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation by focusing specifically on the opportunities, issues and challenges associated with venture creation and growth in the green and sustainable market space, where a range of internal and external drivers (including particular regulatory systems and regimes) help to shape the environment for venture creation and growth.
