Course descriptionA thesis project based upon original research relevant to clinical psychology practice. The thesis comprises a systematic review, a detailed methodology chapter, a journal article, an additional results chapter and a discussion chapter.

&· Systematic review. In format that would be suitable for publication once completed

&· Methodology. A detailed description of the methods employed that would enable other researchers to replicate the project in all important respects.

&· Journal article. Key results presented in the format of a suitable peer reviewed journal and adhering to the author guidelines for that journal. A list of suitable research journals will be made available and the course team will consider adding other journals to this list where suggested.

&· Additional Results. Additional results which cannot be outlined fully in the journal article will be presented in this chapter.

&· Discussion. An integration of the study findings into the context of the existing literature, including discussion of strengths and limitations of the study and any implications of the study for clinical practice and / or future research.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- To develop ability to design, conduct & write up a significant clinical research project.

- To recognise ethical issues & apply for and obtain appropriate ethical approval.

- To prepare a systematic review.

- To demonstrate an ability to critically evaluate research.

- To develop ability to present findings in the format of a journal article.
Assessment Information
A thesis project of 25,000-35,000 words submitted for assessment. Examined in viva by internal and external examiners.
