| Course description | The course aims to provide students with an opportunity to put theoretical learning into practice, and in doing so, to develop a wide range of transferable skills, such as team-working, leadership, presentation skills, problem formulation and solving, information retrieval and research skills, time planning and project management.
The course also aims to provide host organisations with a useful contribution to their own climate change-related objectives.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completing this course, students should be able to:
* Work with a client to understand their needs, share assumptions and define a problem that a group of 4-5 students can realistically make a meaningful contribution to solving over an eight-week period
* Understand and work with group dynamics to enable the best overall performance by the group to be achieved
* Develop a work plan to meet the project objectives and manage time and resources over the project period
* Carry out the necessary research and/or analysis and present results in a form that meets the client's needs
* Separately deliver a report that provides evidence of the theoretical knowledge applied and use of appropriate methodologies, for an academic audience
* Critically evaluate their own work, as an individual and as a team, review performance and identify lessons for future improvement

There are no lectures associated with this course, as all necessary background will be covered in other core courses.
Project proposals will be sourced from businesses and other organisations with an interest in carbon finance and accounting. Groups will be assigned or 'bid' for projects, as required. An introductory session will be held to outline the objectives and procedures for the projects, to which project hosts will be invited. A workshop on effective group work and intercultural understanding will also be held. Groups will then have eight weeks to carry out the project in collaboration with the host company. A supervisor will be assigned to each group as a point of contact and to provide guidance where required. Presentations will be held in the final two weeks and attended by project hosts, the group and the supervisor.

Introduction to Carbon Consulting Project: outline of objectives and procedures for projects.
Workshop: Effective Group Work
Weeks 2-9 Groups carry out projects in collaboration with host companies
Weeks 10-11 Group presentations
