Course descriptionThis course is designed to review the management skills required for the lead clinician in a primary dental care clinic. It will review leadership skills, team-working and communication skills. It will also update knowledge about managing health and safety, including cross infection control, within the clinical environment. Elements of financial management and business planning will be included.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Introduction to Clinical Evidence (DENT11105) AND Diagnosis and treatment planning (DENT11106) AND Direct Restorations (DENT11107) AND Occlusal management of the restored natural dentition (DENT11108) AND Endodontics in Primary Dental Care (DENT11109) AND Periodontal Management in Primary Dental Care (DENT11110) AND Indirect Restoration (DENT11111) AND Restoration of the Endentulous space (DENT11112)

To know the principles of preventive and operative management of dental caries.
To begin development of the principles of self-evaluation in restorative procedures
To have reviewed and updated some traditional operative skills.
To understand the efficacy of restorative procedures in the light of current knowledge

Study Pattern A mixture of reading material, virtual classroom tutorials, recorded lectures, labyrinth scenarios, screen capture videos and video demonstrations. This course will also be supported by a clinical skills summer school.
