Course descriptionThis course is only available to students in the School of Design.

Indicative course content
In this course students will define, collect and analyse a personally selected and justified area of research that is creatively informed, innovative and critically aware. Students will produce a cohesive and mature body of research work that underpins studio practice and consolidates their prior learning.

Aims of course
1 enable students to propose, justify and undertake a personal study plan with clearly defined aims, objectives and methods
2 enable students to develop a sophisticated body of research material that communicates a progression of ideas and a thorough awareness of contemporary creative practice
3 develop and consolidate students critical analysis and reflective appraisal of personal research themes

Self-Generated Projects, Individual and Group Mentoring, Tutorials
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: ( Design Studio 3 (DESI09001) AND Design Research 3 (DESI09002) AND Professional Design Practice 3 (DESI09003) AND Design Context 3 (DESI09012)) OR (SCQF9 QUAL)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Design Studio 4 (DESI10001) AND Professional Design Practice 4 (DESI10003) AND Design Context 4 (DESI10006)
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to Design.
