Course descriptionThe Expressive Arts 5 to 14 curriculum encompasses Art and Design, Drama, Music and Physical Education. This course will look at the educational value of encouraging pupils of primary school age in a range of balanced activities. The course will also be supported by critical reflection on pedagogical principals.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the creative process as it features in activities central to Art & Design, Drama, Music and Physical Education
- demonstrate an understanding of the educational value of engaging pupils of primary school age in a balanced range of Expressive Arts activities
- demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages of children of primary school age in terms of their learning - readiness (cognitive, aesthetic, psychomotor and social) to engage in the full range of curricular Expressive Arts activities
- reflect critically on their own practical experiences in the Expressive Arts in ways which inform their understanding of pedagogical principles which will inform their own teaching
