Course descriptionTo promote a specialist understanding of the science behind the practice of blood transfusion, and how this is applied practically in the UK, and to ensure that the student has a full understanding of the modern requirements for Quality Systems and Good Manufacturing Practice in the Transfusion, Transplantation & Tissue Banking environment

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course the student the principles and application of specialist science relating to the physiology and pathophysiology of blood cell development, the biochemistry of blood cell storage and of haemostasis.

The student should understand and be able to apply the regulations and requirements for Good Manufacturing Practice and Quality systems as used in Transfusion, Transplantation & Tissue Banking, and the theoretical and practical tools used to implement and monitor.

Students will also be taught presentation skills during this course
