| Course description | This course follows on from Course 1 to explore the impact of Health Informatics, planning for its deployment and management of the associated change to improve healthcare delivery. It takes a national and international perspective with parallels drawn between developed and developing countries. On completion of the course students will have knowledge and skills to examine existing practices and recommend change based on evidence and structured approaches. Course 1 and 2 together provide an introduction to the fundamentals of Health Informatics. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
a. Formulate advice on the ethical considerations and legislation governing collection and use of data at all levels of care delivery, monitoring and research
b. Discuss the significance of the different groups, workforce and patient populations which Health Informatics aims to serve.
c. Identify the contributing related domains and sub domains and the key applications associated with Health Informatics
d. Assess the dynamics of the relationship between health informatics and organisation design
e. Assess the current position of Health Informatics policy planning and practice, nationally and internationally, and provide some analysis of future directions.
f. Evaluate the process of change and the role of Health Informatics in changing healthcare delivery

Assessment Information
Summative work will be approximately 3000 words in total and be approved by the Board of Examiners on the recommendation of the Course Leader. Combined with formative assessments, it may incorporate one or more of the following:
