Course descriptionThis is a for-credit course offered by the Office of Lifelong Learning (OLL); only students registered with OLL should be enrolled.

This is a course for beginners or those wishing to refresh the basics. Learn how to rework a first draft and how to give and take critical feedback in a positive, constructive way.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will have gained an understanding of the following:
¿ How to get started
¿ How to create lively and original writing
¿ How to develop an idea into a form
¿ Redrafting and editing
¿ How to give and receive constructive feedback
¿ How to send work off to publishers
Assessment Information
Open Studies 10 credit courses have one assessment. Normally, the assessment is a 2000 word essay, worth 100% of the total mark, submitted by week 12. To pass, students must achieve a minimum of 40%. There are a small number of exceptions to this model which are identified in the Studying for Credit Guide.
