Course descriptionThis course will consider the genetic, molecular and cell biological processes involved in susceptibility to cancer and in the initiation and progression of the disease. Conventional cancer treatments will be described and new rational therapies that take into account both individual and cancer biodiversity will be discussed. Molecular profiling of cancers, trials of novel cancer therapies and the use of animal models in cancer research will also be considered. The course will consist of lectures, teacher-led discussions and presentations by students working in groups.

Discuss the issues involved in designing and carrying out a successful clinical trial for a novel cancer therapy.
