Course descriptionThis course in intended to equip students to apply their musical knowledge and skills usefully in the community in a variety of situations, for example in education, special needs or music therapy. Students have individual supervisions and attend seminars and placements as arranged with the course organiser. Students engage in an individual project involving a mixture of practival work, reflection and research.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will gain knowledge of the use of music in a variety of community situations. Through placement work and an individual project, they will gain practical experience; by reflecting on this in an extended essay, they will grow in understanding of how music can be useful in such situations.
Assessment Information
Assessment is by submission of an extended essay of c. 6,000 words based on the project.
