Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
¿ explain and discuss the basic physics required in resource modelling and assessment for wind, wave and marine currents (including tidal)
¿ provide understanding as to the user needs for resource assessment and its relation to offshore marine energy production (ie calculation of energy yield across all offshore RE technologies)
¿ describe the measurement and data analysis procedures for site resource assessment
Assessment Information
Part 1 (60% total): Case study for each energy resource - wind (20%), wave (20%), tidal (20%).
Part 2 (40%): Individual 20 min presentation with 10 mins for questions on a topic relating to one of offshore wind, wave or tidal resource assessment. A list of presentation titles will be prepared by the lecturers on the course and students will each select one.
