| Course description | This course provides an overview of the current applications of isotopes in archaeology with reference to specific case studies examining the (often problematic) integration of isotopic data and archaeological evidence. This theme will be explored primarily through the evaluation of stable isotope analysis, which has been widely used to determine dietary change and in characterisation studies. The overall aim of the course is to provide students with an appreciation of the implications of stable isotope analyses for understanding the course of human evolution, past migrations and to consider the timing and nature of the origins of farming in different parts of the world. |
