Course descriptionThe course will examine central philosophical problems in relation to the natural environment in both the history of philosophy and contemporary debates. The content evolves year to year, but it may cover topics such as (i) the concept of nature and the natural, (ii) the moral implications of nature and the environment, and (iii) the aesthetics of nature/environment.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- critically understand the concept of nature and some of the distinctively philosophical problems it raises;
- grasp and analyse a range of philosophically important concepts and theories related to the environment;
- bring analytic and critical tools to bear in reading and writing about central topics in philosophy and the environment.
