Course descriptionThe aim of this course is to offer MSc students in Philosophy the opportunity to specialise in Philosophy of Science. The course will run as a speakers seminar series on a fortnight basis. Students will be invited to come along to the seminars and will be exposed to a variety of advanced topics and contemporary debates in Philosophy of Science. The seminar series provides the springboard for the students to probe deeper into the subject matter covered by the seminars, through an analysis of further relevant sources in the tutorials, and an in-depth investigation of a chosen topic for the coursework.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To acquire a well rounded view of contemporary debates in philosophy of science and to enhance students' critical skills both orally (via Q&A at the speakers seminars) and in writing (via coursework assessment)
Assessment Information
One essay of up to 2,500 words on a chosen topic related to one of the speakers' seminars and agreed with the Course Organiser.

Assignment deadline: Monday 14th April 2014 by 12 noon
Word limit: 2500 words maximum
