Course descriptionSkill acquisition and motor control at Level 3 seeks to provide students with a theoretical and practical understanding of present theories of motor control and learning. Indicative content considers how the brain controls movement, how the brain processes visual information for movement, plasticity of the brain and the question what normal movement is in an atypical population. The physiological analysis of exercise and training seeks to improve the students' understanding in relation to specific situations associated with physiological preparation for sport and activity. Acquisition of sports-specific knowledge will enhance an individual's capability to prescribe exercise and training in a variety of contexts. Indicative content considers energy metabolism and provision, muscular fatigue, muscle morphology and adaptation, lactate threshold, aerobic and anaerobic function, integrative sources of energy, recovery and the physical demands of specific activity.
