Course descriptionA critical and detailed study of selected doctrines of the Christian faith, dealing with such subjects as Scripture, the Trinity, Christology, pnematology, creation and providence. Particular attention is given to the biblical foundations and historical development of each doctrine, to the relation between the various doctrines, and to the contemporary interpretation and application of the doctrines.

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should usually have completed at least one introductory level Divinity/Religious Studies course at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. Only University/College level courses will be considered in this connection.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On successful completion, students will have:
(1) understood the key dimensions of the core doctrines studied in the course;
(2) engaged critically with different theological construals of these doctrines;
(3) perceived the relationships between these doctrines in systematic theology;
(4) explored a number of core theological texts from across theological traditions.

Assessment Information
COURSEWORK : One 2000-word essay (20%); AND
Five 400-word tutorial exercises (20%).
EXAM : One degree examination (60%).
In order to pass this course, students must obtain a minimum of 40% in both the coursework (combined mark) and the degree exam.
