Course descriptionThe course is designed to enable students to acquire skills in Christian moral reasoning, and successfully to mobilise such skills in relation to contemporary moral controversies such as the patenting of life or the moral status of animals.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: God in Philosophy: Plato to Hume (THET08010) OR Systematic Theology 2Bh: Dogmatic Theology (THET08001)

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least 3 Divinity/Religious Studies courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have acquired:-
1. elementary skills in the analysis and interpretation of morally significant texts in Holy Scripture;
2. familiarity with some major moral concepts in the Western Christian tradition as deployed in major texts;
3. an ability to deploy ordered moral exposition and argument.
Assessment Information
10% on seminar presentations and participation, 30% on an essay, 60% on degree examination.
