SummaryThis course offers a grounding in the skills and techniques of representation necessary for architectural design, including analogue and digital drawing and three-dimensional modelling. It also serves to introduce students to a wider range of representational media and practices in the fields of art and design. It offers the insights into the expressive and communicative possibilities of disciplines related to architecture and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration.

Pre-requisites Co-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students also take Architectural Design: Elements (ARCH08001) AND Technology and Environment: Principles (ARCH08002) AND Architectural History: Introduction to World Architecture (ARCH08003) AND Architectural Design: Assembly (ARCH08004) AND Architectural History: Revivalism to Modernism (ARCH08005)

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate experimentation and fundamental understanding of drawing using a range of techniques and materials.
  2. Demonstrate an awareness of Art and Design process in researching, testing and developing ideas to find creative solutions.

Additional Class Delivery Information Core activities scheduled between Semester 1, Mondays, 9.00-15.30. Lectures each week 9.00-11.00, Main Lecture Theatre, ECA main building, Lauriston Place. Studio activities 11.00-3.30. A mixture of methods used: supervised learning, directed learning and independent learning.
