SummaryIndicative course content
Professional Practice: Law and Contracts, Contracts & specification, contract responsibilities, the tendering process, conduct of work, conditions of contract, professional fees, project administration & specification writing. Planning: statutory basis, development control, development plans, planning decisions, national planning policy, environmental assessment. Project Management/office/job running skills in preparation for the year in practice.

Aims of course
1 To give students an understanding of the professional code of practice, forms of contract & specification writing, aspects of UK planning legislation & relevant aspects of law and project management/office/job running skills in preparation for the year in practice.

The aggregation of failed Learning outcomes with passing learning outcomes to generate an overall pass mark is not permitted. Failure of one learning outcome will result in a Forced Fail (FF) outcome. Students are permitted two attempts to pass this course.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. write and coordinate landscape architectural specifications with detailed design and construction drawings.
  2. demonstrate an understanding of the relevant principles of law, contract & the UK planning system.
  3. demonstrate and understanding of the issues & procedures involved in establishing & managing a professional practice.
