Summary | MLA Landscape portfolio 4 enables the student to develop a self-selected landscape design project. A proposal made by the student is approved by the design tutor team. The selected project can address a range of project types appropriate to the practice of landscape architecture. Within the project the student will demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and skills of the profession gained in the previous months of study in the MLA programme and through lectures and seminars running through the course. |
Course description |
The course consists of the development of a major landscape design project within the professional and practice context for landscape architecture. Along with studio and crit tuition the students will have lectures and seminars that introduces and promotes discussion of the professional context for the realization of the project.

Portfolio of design work and workbooks 100%
Students must pass all learning outcomes. The aggregation of failed Learning outcomes with passing learning outcomes to generate an overall pass mark is not permitted. Failure of one learning outcome will result in a Forced Fail (FF) outcome.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an advanced level of design, based on clear analytical and conceptual thinking at different scales and contexts.
- Demonstrate an individual and creative approach to Landscape Architecture and an understanding of the environment as a dynamic system.
- Communicate the design process in a concise & precise manner by means of workbooks, models, presentation drawings & complex argument.
