SummaryIndicative course content
To comprehensively introduce the language and specialist study of contemporary Sculpture. To apply research and making skills, knowledge of processes and techniques relevant to a range of materials. To enable appropriate decision making, selection and manipulation of individually developed ideas.

Aims of course
1 To interpret set briefs and generate individual ideas in making Sculpture.
2 To appropriately select and use safely a broad range of equipment, materials, processes and environments.
3 To demonstrate investigation and enquiry in the making and presentation of sculptural work.

Mode of delivery
Studio, workshop, external projects; demonstrations; group and individual critiques, exhibitions.
Course description Introduce and expand issues within contemporary art studio practice.

Mixture of one hour group seminars and studio critiques.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Studio 1 (Art) (ARTX07003)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Research, Drawing and Visual Thinking 2 (Sculpture) (ARTX08017) AND Professional Practice 2 (Sculpture) (ARTX08018) AND Art 2: Postmodernism and After (ARTX08025) AND Contemporary Art Practice (AREA08001)
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.

Direct Entry students to Year 2 must have Recognised Prior Learning equivalent to 120 credits.
Additional Costs ECA students are required to pay for the cost of materials used throughout their programme of study.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. CREATIVITY Demonstrate an ability to develop individual responses to the project briefs.
  2. APPLICATION Utilise a range of appropriate materials and processes.
  3. COMMUNICATION Apply individual research strategies within the context of contemporary art practice.

Additional Information
Graduate Attributes and Skills Manage time, deal with obstacles, attend to visual material, assess and evaluate own and others work.
