Summary | This course is suitable for students who have successfully completed the Introductory Chinese Language course (ASST07003 or ASST07004) and for learners who have equivalent knowledge of the Chinese language: being familiar with the basic principles of the speaking and writing systems of the Chinese language; having a fair command of about 300 Chinese characters and some basic grammar and sentence structures that are used to express events in the present.
This course is not available to native or near-native speakers of Chinese. If in doubt, contact the Course Organiser.
There is an identical course (Introductory Chinese Language - ASST07006) which runs in the second semester. |

Learning Outcomes
On successfully completing the course, the students are expected to have a good command of about 700 Chinese characters in total. They will be familiar with more basic grammar and sentence structures that can be used in every-day conversations and to express events related to the present.
