Course description | A course for beginners with no previous knowledge of Japanese, designed to introduce the Japanese Language and culture to students in the College of Science and Engineering. The course is not suitable for students with previous knowledge of Japanese. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will develop basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. They will acquire knowledge of basic grammatical structures and a vocabulary of approximately 400 high-frequency words and phrases and the 2 basic character sets. |

Course work (including in class tests and class participation) 50%; degree exam 50%. |
