Learning Outcomes
Having completed the course a student will have a knowledge of the research methodology specifically of the major disciplines within the subject area of Management and of the strengths and weaknesses of these methodologies. This knowledge will relate to the role of ontolgical assumptions, scientific objectives, methodological preferences, types of data and techniques of data collection and analysis within each discipline. This knowledge will be within the disciplines of Business Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management Science, Operations Management, Corporate Strategy, International Business, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, and Human Resource Management; have an appreciation of the way management research is embedded in the social sciences and in policy and practice; have the ability to critically evaluate and critically compare different methodological approaches of the disciplines of Management; have the ability to make informed decisions as to the appropriate methodological framework within which to pursue a piece of research within the area of Management.
