SummaryThis course provides an overall understanding of the needs, contexts and processes of toplevel decision-making for businesses working in an international context (multinational corporations in particular), and some useful approaches to analysing them. The course highlights and analyses the strategic choices (and implementation approaches and methods) open to managements faced with complex international business opportunities and threats.

Learning Outcomes
The objectives of the course are for students to:

Understand the main concepts of strategic and international management

Be able to apply techniques of strategic analysis to develop useful and persuasive conclusions

Appreciate the opportunities and dangers involved in growing internationally, and in failing to grow internationally.

Appreciate the Liabilities of Foreignness and the strategic approaches that can address them.

Be practised in working with the key tensions faced in the strategic management of an organization as it expands across territories.
