This module enables students to develop a personal integrated, critical and reflective design research approach appropriate to their chosen design discipline. Students work on self-selected and generated design projects within a design studio environment.

1 Develop and consolidate advanced personal design methods, techniques and approaches
2 Explore how designers generate and justify personal design briefs in the context of their discipline
3 Develop and consolidate advanced personal approaches to materials and processes

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- master the creative processes of design and be able to generate and evaluate original concepts through critical assessment and considered judgement and reflection
- master appropriate material development through a transparent critical and reflective iterative process that leads to a resolved outcome
- challenge established design precepts and aesthetic, socio-cultural, ethical and technical assumptions, and propose and reflect upon appropriate directions of personal practice and research
