SummaryThis half-course studies the problems of and prospects for economic development in less developed countries. Topics covered include: the meaning of development; theories of development and structural change; institutions and economic development; urbanisation and rural-urban migration; strategies of rural development; famine, hunger and poverty; trade and development; capital flows and foreign aid; the environment and development.

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should usually have at least 3 Economics courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. This MUST INCLUDE courses in both Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. We will only consider University/College level courses.
