| Summary | This course aims to examine, from a philosophical viewpoint, a range of conceptual and practical issues concerning the nature and purposes of schooling, the content of the curriculum and the role of the teacher. The course begins by exploring the general impact on contemporary educational issues and problems of the ideas of Plato, Rousseau and Dewey, proceeding to explore the influence of past and present philosophers on a range of more particular contemporary issues of educational theory, policy and practice. |
