SummaryThere is a recognition that schools have a responsibility to work towards development within both the affective and cognitive domain across the curriculum. This module will analyse this holistic approach to education, reviewing critically the theories and perspectives that underpin curricular provision where the focus is on the development of the student through Personal and Social Education.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module course members will have:
LO1 demonstrated awareness of theories related to personal and social development including career development theories which underpin career choice and decision-making;
LO2 applied this awareness to evaluate those opportunities that arise across school, cross-curricular and special-focus approaches;
LO3 analysed and discussed research findings and research methods appropriate to the context;
LO4 identified and analysed a range of learning and teaching experiences that focus on the personal, social and vocational developmental needs of students within Personal and Social Education;
LO5 developed and evaluated, as a result of this analysis, a planned curricular experience for effective learning and teaching in Personal and Social Education within their own institutional context;
LO6 used the evaluation in order to inform both personal and professional practice.
