Summary | The course will address global themes in geography at the interface between human and natural systems and will compliment the methodological overview and framework offered in the related third year core course ?The Nature of Geographical Knowledge?. This third year core course will illustrate the complex inter linkages between the ?human? and ?physical? world. The course will therefore be of interest to both physical and human geographers. This global themes course is designed to explicitly link to the fourth year core course ?Visions of Geography? so enhancing progression in the curriculum. |

Learning Outcomes
Students will develop a broad and integrated knowledge of some of the key environmental, political and social challenges facing the global community
Students will critically appreciate the contribution of geographical knowledge to understanding pertinent global processes
Students will assess the ways in which geographers may contribute to policy initiatives that are aimed at addressing global issues
Students will develop an appreciation for some of the various scientific, social and political impediments to successful policy developments
Students will practise making formal presentations relating to the key themes that span human and physical geography
