| Additional Information (Assessment) |
Formal summative written assessment will constitute 60% of the student's grade. This will include a group exercise, and a case study analysis. Online assessment will incorporate a variety of activities and will constitute 40% of the overall course grade and is taken to represent a formative assessment of learning throughout the programme. |

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- The overall aim of the course is to enable students to understand the concepts of evidence based medicine and the process of application of theory into practice. The student should:
Be familiar with how to use research information to reduce uncertainties and inform decision making
- quantify and communicate uncertainties with probabilities and
relate clinical decision making to clinical outcomes
- understand how to ask and answer clinical questions and be able to effectively search for, and organise evidence
be confident in continuous updating of knowledge and practice
- be able to discriminate between strong and weak evidence, with skills to appraise and evaluate different forms of evidence
