| Summary | Advanced Persian aims to enable students to have mastery of all aspects of higher Persian and develop further reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students' command of the Persian Language is developed through a wide range of materials, that is, by study of different Persian texts, both prose and poetry, with use of films and other media as well. This course consists of work in translating English texts into Persian, and vice versa, and practicing oral and aural skills at advanced level. |

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course students will have gained an advanced knowledge of the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in Persian. Students will be able understand and analyse written and aural materials of various types. The students will be able to translate and analyse different Persian media literature and to produce written Persian in summary form and to appreciate Modern Persian as a form of communication and a form of literature and Classical Persian literature.
Learning is based around discussion and translation of texts in modern Persian and English and writing essays in Persian. The teaching materials are taken from a variety of Persian and English sources on subjects relating to a general theme or some more specifically related to Iran and Iranian history and culture, politics, society and lifestyle. Each week the students will be presented with new discussion topics unraveling themes mentioned above.
