Learning Outcomes
| By the end of this course, students should: be acquainted with the principles of classical Latin satire and with the primarily literary and ideological nature of that poetry; have read in Latin an extensive prescription of classical satire, with due attention to linguistic and stylistic detail, and literary technique; be able to discuss critically interpretative issues which arise from the texts and from a range of scholarship; have written both an essay of c.2,000 words and a short stylistic analysis of a portion of text; have contributed to a student-led presentation on a seminar topic.
