Summary | The aims and objectives of the course are to impart to students an understanding of the core principles of competition law most relevant to the regulation of innovation. The course builds on undergraduate knowledge of competition law by focusing in-depth on national (UK but also comparative, especially US) and EU regulation of innovative markets. The course will therefore consider, primarily, the application of the concepts and legal principles of competition law relevant to dominant position, joint ventures, mergers, monopolies and technology transfer (i.e. building the foundations for advanced study of recent case law involving BSkyB/News Corp, IBM, Intel, Microsoft etc in semester two). |
