A detailed examination of the art and archaeology of classical Greece (5thand 4th centuries BC) covering the archaeological sites of Athens (the Kerameikos, Agora and Acropolis), Corinth, Delphi and Olympia. This illustrated course will use both the cast and vase collection of the University of Edinburgh and the cast gallery at the Edinburgh College of Art.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will have the ability to:
Describe the key developments, both chronologically and stylistically, of the art and architecture of Classical Greece
Understand and be able to discuss the archaeological contexts for the material culture interpreted as ¿art¿
Have a coherent understanding of social and political functions of the material
Participate constructively and effectively in group discussion
Have the ability to develop and articulate critical interpretations of material culture based on source material while utilising secondary sources.
