|Summary||An introduction to the creative practice of musical composition including: form, rhythm, harmony, instrumentation and cultural context. The student's own creative work will be developed in individual tutorials. Students are encouraged to make a rigorous exploration of the horizons of their musical experience and interest.
The study and practice of creative music composition.

|Pre-requisites||Visiting students should have at least three Music courses at grade B or above in Music Theory (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses. All Visiting students should contact the Course Organiser before enrolling on the course.

||Portfolio submission. Two original and contrasting compositions, to be submitted by end of Semester - worth 80%.
Creative Diary and Class Exercises - worth 20%.

| - Students will demonstrate an understanding of the essentials of creative compositional practice and their context.
- They will demonstrate the development of individual creative skills and musical issues arising from them.
- They will demonstrate core skills of music notation and the preparation of scores and performance materials.
