Additional Information (Assessment) Assessment is by submission of a portfolio of two contrasting pieces for full orchestra, although one may be for smaller forces. The choice of pieces will aim to reflect the particular compositional interests of each student.

Students will have learned to write idiomatically and imaginatively for full orchestra.

They should have an understanding of the orchestration techniques used in 20th-century music.

They should be able to apply these techniques where appropriate in their own creative compositional work.
