SummaryThis course is an integral component of the taught MSc degree programme, The Second World War in Europe (History). Its constituents are: the various invasions of neighbouring countries by Italy, Germany, the Soviet Union and the Allies; the occupation policies of these invading powers and how they affected the native populations of various countries, including France, The Netherlands, Poland, the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Germany; the extent and nature of collaboration by natives with occupying powers; the extent and nature of resistance on the part of natives to occupying powers.

Learning Outcomes
Students will acquire an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter of these subjects. In particular, they will acquire a facility for dealing with comparative history. They will improve their oral skills through participation in group discussion, as well as through the presentation of seminar papers. They will improve their written skills through the written assignment. They will improve their team working skills within the group. Above all, they will improve their problem-solving skills
