| Summary | The course is intended to focus on a single text (or corpus of texts), in a multi-disciplinary fashion: texts will be examined from the point of view of textual and historical elucidation, and literary and theoretical criticism. The intention is that students are given exposure to a variety of critical approaches, which they can apply or respond to in their own future work in Greek  literature. |

Learning Outcomes 
| Students who complete the course successfully will be able by the end of the course to demonstrate in course work and seminar discussion: - knowledge and understanding of the text studied, in its literary and historical context.
 - understanding of a variety of critical approaches to ancient texts, and how those approaches interact.
 - enhanced ability in expressing opinions on ancient literature, and in understanding and engaging with the opinions of others.
