SummaryAn interdisciplinary introduction to current ideas and theoretical issues concerning politics, religion, culture, history, economy, and community that are relevant to students studying all aspects of modern South Asia. Relevant practical research methodology questions will also be addressed.

The course is aimed at M.Res students working on South Asia. It involves weekly attendance (and participation) throughout the year at the interdisciplinary South Asian Studies Research Seminar, held on Thursdays at 4-5.30pm. This is then accompanied by one-to-one supervision and guided reading that relates methodological issues and debates arising within the research seminar to the particular interests of students.
